VANDERBURGH COUNTY

Vanderburgh County is the home of the 3rd largest city in Indiana, Evansville, also the county seat.  Evansville is located on an oxbow in the Ohio River providing beautiful vistas of the river and both the far and near river banks.  Evansville is home to the first casino in Indiana and was once home to one of the first NFL teams. The origin of Dodge Ram trucks can be traced to Graham Brothers Trucks in Evansville.  In the early days of the automobile, the Dixie Bee Line - a route from Chicago to Florida - passed through Evansville and the ferry across the river. The Dixie Bee Line later became the basis of US Highway 41.
