JEFFERSON COUNTY

Jefferson County is home to Freemont Falls, the tallest water falls in Indiana at 108 feet.  Jefferson County is also home to Hanover College, a liberal arts college and the oldest private college in Indiana.  On the campus of Hanover College is Logan’s Point, also known as The Point, the only location along the Ohio River where three bends can be observed.  The county seat, Madison, is home to the largest contiguous national historic landmark, 133 blocks of historic buildings in downtown Madison. The first railroad in Indiana, chartered by the state, was built in Madison as a way to connect Indianapolis with the Ohio River.
