GRANT COUNTY

Grant County is home to the City of Marion, Gas City, and the Pipe Creek Sinkhole; perhaps one of the most important locations in the eastern half of the continent, as it provides a rare look into animal and plant life prior to the most recent ice age.  Indiana Wesleyan University, the largest private university in Indiana, makes their home in Grant County. Marion, the county seat, is the birthplace of James Dean, actor, and Jim Davis, cartoonist. The Mississinewa River, named by the Miami, runs through Marion and Gas City in Grant County on its way to the Wabash River.  The annual Mississinewa 1812 reenactments are the largest war of 1812 reenactments in the United States.
