FRANKLIN COUNTY

Benjamin Franklin has been immortalized in many ways across our country due to the influence he had on the development of our country, including having a county named after him here in Indiana.  Franklin County is considered to be a part of the Cincinnati metropolitan statistical area. Brookville, the county seat, sits below the Brookville Lake Dam, holding Brookville Lake. The Whitewater Canal used to run through Franklin County, and Franklin County has the last wood aqueduct in the United States, carrying the Whitewater Canal over Duck Creek in Metamora.  Brookville was home to an artist group that painted many landscapes around the area.
